HSI and IP-DSL customers with Windows XP experience slow browser speeds due to the inability of Windows XP to properly adjust the TCP/IP settings. Windows XP users can now optimize their Internet speed with the High Speed Internet Optimization Tool. This tool is accessible within the Activation Tool and the online Troubleshoot and Resolve (TS&R) Tool.
U-verse customers with Windows XP are presented with the High Speed Internet Optimization Tool during U-verse registration. Customer Self-Install Registration and Setup Process displays the customer's experience through the U-verse registration Process.
The TS&R tool provides customers with the option of optimizing their Windows XP as well. Customers can download and install the AT&T TS&R on their PC (Windows based only). Refer to Download the Troubleshoot and Resolve Tool. Customers can also access the online version at ufix.att.com.
Utilize the High Speed Internet Optimization Tool in TS&R From the TS&R Menu:
- Select Internet.
- Select Browser.
- Select High Speed Internet Optimization. [Step 3 - Screenshot] The Optimization option screen appears.
- When the customer selects Yes to optimize their Windows XP computer, the verifying installation screen appears, and the process begins.
- If the customer chooses not to optimize, a screen appears alerting customer they have selected not to optimize their computer and the flow ends.
- If a plugin is needed, the customer sees an Install Plugin screen. The customer clicks Get Started. [Step 5 - Screenshot]
- The customer may be asked to enter their HSI Plan. [Step 6 - Screenshot]
- When the optimization is complete, the customer clicks Continue to complete the flow. [Step 7 - Screenshot]
- The customer is alerted that a reboot is required for the new settings to take effect.
- After the customer selects Reboot, the Success screen appears and the flow ends. [Step 9 - Screenshot]
- Customers can run the optimization process on other computers on their network that have Windows XP operation system.
- If the customer's computer is already optimized, an error screen appears. [Step 10 - Screenshot]
