Installation of the Motorola 2210 modem plus Cisco Linksys E1000 router can be accomplished via customer self-install (CSI) or full tech install (FTI) for services less than or equal to 6MB. 12MB and 18MB services require FTI. If the customer is upgrading services and receives a new CSI kit, ensure they install the Motorola 2210 received with the new kit.
Procedures
- Install and sync the Motorola 2210 modem before installing the Cisco E1000.
- In order to verify that the Motorola 2210 is successfully connected, have the customer connect a PC to the Ethernet port of the Motorola 2210 and verify they can surf before configuring the tethered configuration.
- For this tethered configuration to function properly, use the Motorola 2210 firmware version 7.8.7r27.
- Install the Cisco E1000 following the manufacturer's literature provided in the installation kit.

Scope of Support
After validating connectivity with the Motorola 2210 and ensuring the customer can surf via the Ethernet connection on the back of the 2210 device, handle all other issues related to the E1000 as outlined below.
Connecting Wireless Devices to the Cisco E1000
Customers should use the E1000 Wi-Fi client on the Cisco installation CD provided with the device when configuring the Cisco E1000 to connect wireless devices.
The Cisco E1000 comes with Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) enabled on the device; however, using WPS to configure a wireless network can cause the customer to experience issues with connecting wireless devices to the Cisco E1000.
